AI Swing Analysis (Softball & Baseball)

SkillShark’s AI Swing Analysis feature: A Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Navigate to Evaluation Template

- Go to the navigation bar on the left-hand side and select ‘Evaluation Settings.’
- Choose ‘Evaluation Template’ from the drop-down options.
Step 2: Select the ‘Hitting’ Metric

- Once in your evaluation template, click on ‘View’ beside the ‘Positional’ category. This will show you all the skills under that category.

- Once here, click on the arrow beside the ‘Hitting’ skill to open the collapsible menu.
- Click on the blue ‘Add Metric’ button.
Step 3: Add Video Analysis Metric

- Under the ‘Add Metric’ section, scroll down and click on ‘Video Analysis (Beta).’

- Name the metric and choose the scoring type. **See below for different scoring types.
- Click on the blue ‘Add Metric’ button on the bottom right. It will now be added to your evaluation template for all evaluators to score.
- Note: The ‘Analysis Objective’ will always be ‘Swing.’

Step 4: Enter Athletes’ Height & Weight

- Go to ‘Players’ on the left-hand navigation menu and click on ‘Manage Players.’
- Once in the players section, click on the blue ‘Edit’ button to the far right-hand side beside any player’s name.

- Click on the blue ‘Edit Details’ button.

Click on the ‘View Additional Fields’ button, located right below the email field.

- Enter the player’s height & weight. Ensure you hit the save button.
Step 5: Film Players’ Hitting Mechanics


- On your phone, open your event in the SkillShark app.
- Select the ‘Hitting’ metric. And click ‘Start Evaluation.’
- Scroll down to ‘AI Hitting Analysis’ (or the name you chose) and click ‘Take Video.’

Step 6: Record the Swing & Upload
- An objective hitting score out of 100 will be provided to you within minutes after recording.
- *Scores are calculated using stride length, hand speed, hip & shoulder rotation, kinematic sequence, height, and weight.
