Importing Players

Watch our quick guide for importing players below.

Importing Players in SkillShark: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Check the Excel Spreadsheet

  • Make sure there are no locked cells (cells that are merged over multiple columns) and no empty columns with missing data.

  • Ensure that the general category a kid is trying out for is identified on the spreadsheet. For example, in hockey, ensure that a check mark is beside 'Goalie' or 'Positional' on your spreadsheet.

  • Note: If you have athletes in different time trials due to limited space on the ice, court, or field (i.e., U13 Group 1, U13 Group 2 etc), ensure this information is filled out on your spreadsheet. SkillShark will then automatically tie these time trial lists to player lists.

Step 2: Navigate to Import Players

  • Navigate to the 'Manage Players' tab on the left-hand navigation menu.

  • Click on 'Import Players.

  • Select the spreadsheet within your computer files and click Upload.

  • For example, the system might not recognize the 'Positional' column because it is a custom field (one that is created in your customized evaluation template). However, you can use the drop-down menu to map this field to data.

Step 3: Data Map Fields

  • Any column that SkillShark understands what you are describing will be identified with a green check mark. I.e., Bib number, jersey colour, primary position, etc.

  • Any columns without a green checkmark can be checked off manually by using the drop-down menu.

    • For example, the system might not recognize the 'Positional' column because it is a custom field (one that is created in your customized evaluation template). However, you can use the drop-down menu to map this field to data.
