Customizing Evaluation Templates in SkillShark: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Navigate to the Evaluation Template

  • Go to the navigation bar on the left-hand side and select ‘Evaluation Settings.’
  • Choose ‘Evaluation Template’ from the drop-down options.

Step 2: Add Categories

Add categories
  • *Think of categories as positions on your team. For baseball, categories typically created on a template are: Positional Player, Pitcher, and Catcher
  • Click ‘Add Category’ on the top left-hand side.
  • Name the category and click ‘Create.’

Step 3: Add Skills

  • **Skills are created within categories to keep your evaluation template organized. I.e., Within the category of positional player, some skills are bunting, hitting, speed etc..
  • Once in the appropriate category, click on the ‘Add Skill’ button at the bottom or top left-hand side.
  • Name the skill and click ‘Create.’

Step 4: Add Metrics

Add metrics
  • **Metrics are what an athlete is actually scored on. I.e., Under the skill of bunting, athletes are scored on the metrics: contact, mechanics, and placement.
  • To add a metric, click on the ‘Add Metric’ button under any skill.
  • Select the metric type and name the metric.

Note: Single or Subjective Scores

Objective/subjective metrics
  • You will be asked to assign a min/max score if adding single scores or subjective scores.
  • This min/max score is used to ensure accurate measurements. It will prevent evaluators from entering a score outside of the specified range.

Step 5: Finalize Template

  • Your customized evaluation template will be automatically available for any of your events. In other words, this template can be used at any tryout, mid-season evaluation or clinic.
  • Note: Modifications made to the template will be reflected in any subsequent evaluations.
